Packaging That Blooms: Royal Flowers’ Journey to a Modern Design

The Art and Strategy Behind Royal Flowers' Packaging Evolution

Packaging isn’t just a container for a product, it’s a statement. For any established brand, visual evolution is inevitable. However, many designs fall behind the curve, out of sync with the innovation inside and the dynamic environment outside.

At Royal Flowers, we’ve learned that staying relevant with packaging is key to maintaining a strong brand presence, it’s just as important as the product itself.

Modern branding requires more than just rehashing the past, it’s about infusing timeless elements with new values that reflect today’s world. Our journey at Royal Flowers has been about a packaging evolution that bridges our rich history with a vision for the future.

From Red Boxes to Art Deco Maximalism

Royal Flowers’ packaging story began with a simple box, proudly displaying our logo. It was clean, efficient, and perfectly suited to the brand at the time. As trends shifted, the box embraced the Art Deco-inspired maximalism of the Kraft movement, blending bold elements into the design.

Before diving into redesigns, it was vital to understand the practical needs of our customers and the challenges they face. In February 2023, we hit the ground running, visiting warehouses to observe how products were stored, handled, and displayed. What we found was striking, our Kraft-inspired design wasn’t standing out, and practical elements like label placement and zip ties hid the beautiful design work. We decided that it was time for a change.

The Journey to a New Identity

After nine months of intense brainstorming, sketching, and material testing, we realized that the answer wasn’t to reinvent but to embrace our legacy while pushing forward. The key was combining our classic elegance original 1991 red box with a modern twist that reflects our forward-thinking mission.

We knew we needed bold color. Enter the MONOGRAM, a simple visually striking design that perfectly balanced elegance and modernity. The monogram allowed us to maintain the brand’s signature red while introducing a sleek and minimalist design.

But we didn’t stop there. We wanted our packaging to offer an experience. So, we added personalized elements assuring customers of the meticulous care we put into every box. Each detail was crafted to elevate the unboxing process, making it as memorable as the flowers.

Your Experience, Our Legacy

This redesign has been a labor of love, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you. Our new packaging showcases our stunning flowers and tells the story of Royal Flowers’ evolution, blending timeless craftsmanship with bold, forward-thinking design.
